We Always Begin Again
Fall is officially here—my favorite season. I love the cool, crisp air and beautiful blue skies. My body and mind feel the change, too.
Was it only a few weeks ago that we had the storm that knocked out power for days?
The seasons fluctuate. And so do we.
Sometimes I feel steady and calm. Then “something” happens and I’m suddenly off-kilter. It might be an actual event, someone’s words, or a behavior that triggers me. Did I feel in control? Out of control? Am I the one responding inappropriately?
Often, it’s yes to all of the above.
Many things can be true at the same time.
We all experience things differently. Where one person hears gentle rain, another hears a downpour. We make assumptions. We feel judged. Sometimes, we are the judge.
Life’s fluctuations can be hard to navigate. Sometimes we need to reach out and learn new tools to help us through them.
Some of the tools I use in my clinical work involve breathwork and mindfulness. I believe deeply in the mind-body connection. Learning to slow our breathing and return to the present moment can make a tremendous difference, especially when anxiety takes over.
When we feel out of control or hopeless, it can be comforting to remember that some of the most helpful tools are already within us. Sometimes, we simply need to learn how to access them.
At Psych-Perspectives, we work collaboratively. We bring different perspectives and approaches, creating different entry points to help you access what’s already inside of you.
We don’t have to get it right every time.
We can pause.
We can breathe.
We can begin again.Life is full of transitions and fluctuations—just like the seasons. We may not control every storm, but we can learn how to navigate the changing weather.
So enjoy the cool air. Take a breath. Be present.
And if you need support navigating life’s changing weather, let’s connect.
